Daily Bible Reading in Mark

Northshore Family is reading a chapter of Mark a day.  Sunday 3/27/11 is Mark chapter 15.   Join us and post your thoughts or questions on the daily chapter.

"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you" - James 4:8

Try interacting with the Lord by praying as you read Scripture.  Meditate on His words and ask questions: “What are You saying to me?  How does this apply to my life?” and listen for response.

  • Whatever He says will never contradict His written Word.
  • The more you listen, the more you’ll hear His voice.

All of these miracles, and yet faith was still lacking in many. Coming to Jesus because of what they SAW. But we know that faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17) and not by sight. "For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?" - Romans 8:24

So I find it significant that Jesus would not allow the demons in the following verses to TESTIFY or give witness to who Jesus was.

"And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!""

- Mark 1:25

"And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was."

- Mark 1:34

"Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”"

Mark 2:9-12

Still amazed by what they could SEE! NO CLUE as to the power required by the blood of the Lamb to take away the sin on the inside!

"After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored."

- Mark 3:5

Men with such hardened hearts. Seems there was nothing Jesus could do to appease them. They would look for any foothold and make up one if they couldn't twist the truth enough. Once their self-guided agenda was started, they would not stop.

I've been in similar circumstances. Trying your best to see the good. Doing your part to make things right...only to be hated...not because of who you are as a person, but because of an idea that some cannot stomach...although in the end, I cannot fathom how the creator of the universe must of been grieved by their hearts. The created turning against the creator.

Mark 2:17 - "When Jesus heard this, he told them, 'Healthy people don't need a doctor - sick people do. I have come to call sinners, not those who think they are already good enough."
-I think the key word is "THINK!" People who THINK they are good enough - May I never THINK that I can measure up to Jesus and steal the glory and adoration only He deserves. And thank goodness because of His great love, we don't have to measure up and be good enough. ***Interesting - I just accidentally typed "god enough" instead of "good enough." If I plug that into that verse, it would say, "I have come to call sinners, not those who think they are already GOD (instead of good enough." Whoa. Holy Spirit talking! Sometimes people get prideful and THINK they are so good and THINK they don't need God anymore, because they picture themselves as god. Very dangerous.

***Mark 2:2 "Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there wasn't room for one more person, not even outside the door. And he preached the word to them." - I pray our church will be packed too!!

""Other seeds fell into the good soil, and as they grew up and increased, they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.""

- Mark 4:8

Take hold Northshore Family! Fall into the good soil of the Word! And then... "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us," - Ephesians 3:20!

Romans 5:20-21. "The law came to make sin worse. But when sin grew worse, God’s grace increased. Sin once used death to rule us, but God gave people more of his grace so that grace could rule by making people right with him. And this brings life forever through Jesus Christ our Lord."
