In reading the Bible, we are ‘listening’ to God speak through it by his Spirit who illuminates the Word to us.  Chapter of Proverbs a Day Challenge = listen by reading the chapter of Proverbs for the current date and then reflect.  How can we follow the directions of the Master without listening?

Proverbs 11... humility is of great value (Galatians 6:3-5) Doing right brings freedom to the heart. Good people bless and build their city. (11)The Lord hates those with evil hearts, but is pleased with those who are innocent. He who wins souls is wise... pointing the way for others to know and experience LIFE.

Lord, may those who seek to understand the events of this date find themselves running to Your arms and experience the richness of Your love. In Jesus Name

Proverbs 13 highlights from conversations with the Spirit...

Acquire a taste for helpful conversation... There is immense power in our words to build up or destroy because they always add to what is already on other people's hearts. Don't be careless with words... even when tired or your guard is down around family. Don't settle for false talk in any form. Listen to the counsel of others for your own good. Fill your mind with Words of life.

Become wise by walking with the wise.

Proverbs 15... 1&4: brings the Texas wild fires into perspective... (1)"A gentle response defuses anger, but a sharp tongue kindles a temper-fire." (4)Kind words heal and help; cutting words wound and maim."

God is fully aware of our heart condition (Hebrews 4:13) (3) God doesn't miss a thing — he's alert to good and evil alike. (11) Even hell holds no secrets from God — do you think he can't read human hearts?

Take advice from His Word and those pursuing it... 22 "Refuse good advice and watch your plans fail; take good counsel and watch them succeed."

Proverbs 16 from multiple versions...

Prov 16:2(NIV) Motives are weighed by the Lord.

Prov 16:3 (NASB) Commit your works to the Lord And your plans will be established.

Prov 16:5-7 (NASB)Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord;
Assuredly, he will not be unpunished. By lovingkindness and truth iniquity is atoned for, And by the fear of the Lord one keeps away from evil. When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Prov 16:9 (Message) We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it.

Prov 16:13 (Message) Good leaders cultivate honest speech

Prov 16:29 (Message) Gray hair is a mark of distinction, the award for a God-loyal life.

Prov 16:31 (NASB) He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city.

Proverbs 17... (3)the LORD tests the heart (9)Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends. (22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. (24)A discerning person keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth. (27)The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered.

Lord, thank You for the rain! Send a wave of spiritual nourishment... as the water refreshes the land, You refresh the spirit. Draw men unto Yourself. Harvest the decisions that are ready to be cultivated. In Jesus Name

He who loves transgression loves strife; He who raises his door seeks destruction. He who restrains his words has knowledge, And he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent. Proberbs 17:27-28.

Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.
