EASTER : Mardi Gras - Ash Wednesday - Lenten Season

EASTER : Christians celebrate Easter as the resurrection of Christ on the third day after His crucifixion. It is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important day of the church year because of the significance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the events upon which Christianity is based (1 Corinthians 15:3-4,14). The four Gospels make it clear that Jesus was crucified in conjunction with the Jewish Passover (Matthew 26:17-19; Mark 14:12-16; Luke 22:7-15; John 18:28,39; 1...  Read More...

It's Christmas

This season always generates lots of emotions... some of them joyous... and some of them are downright painful!  Time to preach to myself (Psalm 103): my current or past circumstances and even my feelings do NOT have permission to rule the day!  I choose to submit my attitudes, motivations, and demeanor to the Holy Spirit's guidance! (Galatians 5:25)  I want to be a vessel ready for His good use (2 Timothy 2:21) and radiate the transforming hope (2 Corinthians 3:18) that I get to experience on this side of heaven because of amazing, extravagant grace!  Jesus gave His life so that I might know perfect love! (John 3:16)  May I stoke the fire of thankfulness!  May I breathe in the joys of the season that point to Jesus... and the cross!  May I glorify Him by having words of encouragement and praise on my lips!  May my actions reflect the grace that I have been given!

As I look at the picture, I smile at the story of our long-time friends David and Michelle who have the tradition of having their kids set up the nativity.  Last year after Emma completed the task, Michelle noticed everyone had their back turned.  ????  Emma explained that everyone was facing Jesus!  Beautiful!  I liked that you see the lamb in the picture because that is why Jesus came... to be the sacrificial Lamb that we might know the forgiveness of sin and connection of perfect love!
