EASTER : Mardi Gras - Ash Wednesday - Lenten Season

EASTER : Christians celebrate Easter as the resurrection of Christ on the third day after His crucifixion. It is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important day of the church year because of the significance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the events upon which Christianity is based (1 Corinthians 15:3-4,14). The four Gospels make it clear that Jesus was crucified in conjunction with the Jewish Passover (Matthew 26:17-19; Mark 14:12-16; Luke 22:7-15; John 18:28,39; 1...  Read More...

Holy Saturday

[Holy Saturday] the day AFTER crucifixion, but the day BEFORE resurrection!  On Good Friday, our sins get paid for; while on Resurrection Sunday (Easter Sunday), our hope is brought to life.

When Saturday comes, the disciples have not slept in two days.  They are in mourning and remembering all that Jesus did and said and promised.  They are moving in and out from tears to laughter.  I can imagine the smiles from their accounts that Jesus could take someone just like them as part of His core group to change the world?!?!  They would recount all of the amazing people stories, miracles, intimate conversations, experiences, and how things didn't turn out like they thought!  Grief would be seasoned with the guilt that they all abandoned Him!

They would have turned the discussion to asking WHY!  Was falling out of favor with Rome and the Chief Priests the reason for His ultimate demise?  Was it the fickleness of the crowd?   Was it the fact that He chose poorly in us?

How do you respond to life when the wind gets knocked out of you?  Lessons learned from Holy Saturday are a remind us to wait in faith and hang on the promises of God!  Sunday is coming!

Hosea 6:2, After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live before Him.
